We all seem to be worried about eating fats, but the body needs good fats to function efficiently. The one food that contains the most good fat is an avocado. Avocados contain 71% of mono-unsaturated fat which is the good fat that our bodies need for cardiovascular health. These powerhouses are also full of heart-needed vitamins and minerals, dietary fiber, and twice the amount of potassium as bananas.  You can start your own avocado tree by taking the seed, inserting 3 tooth picks into it and suspending the seed pointed side up in a glass with enough water to cover the seed bottom. Leave in a sunny place, filling the water as needed and in 2-3 weeks, you will see the seed sprout. Plant when you begin to see leaves. This is a wonderful project for children. Other heart-healthy foods are spinach, kale, collards, whole grains, salmon, mackerel, sardines, tuna, walnuts, almonds, beans, chia seeds, flax seeds, hemp seeds, garlic, olive oil and green tea. To keep your heart healthy, include as many of these in your weekly diet.
