Our focus this month will be on heart diseases and how adding more fruits and vegetables to your diet can help you to live a healthier life. Many people ask why should I eat more fresh fruits and vegetables? What’s all the fuss about? Fresh fruits and vegetables are pure packets of nutrient power. They are the whole foods that the body loves because they contain only the vitamins and nutrients that the body needs to be healthy. They are not processed foods and they do not contain any preservatives or additives.

One of the most nutrient-packed and delicious salads to keep your heart healthy is the Broccoli Citrus Salad.   Separate 2 bunches of broccoli florets into bite-size pieces. Peel the stems and chop the core into small pieces. Add  the following: ½ cup chopped red onions, 1 chopped apple, 2 oranges, 2 stalks of sliced celery, ½ cup each raisins and walnuts. Mix together 1 cup of mayonnaise or vegenaise, 1 T honey, and ¼ cup of red wine or apple vinegar. Mix  together and refrigerate at least one hour for flavors to blend.

We invite you to participate in our 20/20 Healthy Eating 2018 Campaign, for a chance to win $20 towards your next purchase of fruits and vegetables!
